Terms of Service

This English translation is provided for convenience. If there is any discrepancy, the Korean version of these Terms prevails.

These Terms set out the conditions and procedures for using the URL shortening and related services provided by VRL.KR (the "Service"), and the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of the operator and users. VRL.KR is operated by an individual.

Article 1 (Definitions)

• "Service" means every feature the operator provides under the vrl.kr domain, including URL shortening, QR code generation, click statistics, the API, and web tools.
• "User" means anyone who uses the Service, whether or not they have an account.
• "Member" means a user who has registered with an email address and been given an account.
• "Short URL" means an address in the form vrl.kr/code that stands in for the original URL entered by a user.

Article 2 (Effect and amendment of the Terms)

1. These Terms take effect when posted on the Service.
2. The operator may amend the Terms within the bounds of applicable law. Amendments are announced in the Notices at least 7 days before they take effect, or 30 days for changes unfavorable to users.

Article 3 (Provision of the Service)

1. The Service is provided free of charge. There are no paid plans or payments.
2. The Service is in principle available 24 hours a day, year-round, but may be suspended temporarily for maintenance, outages, or force majeure.
3. The operator may add, change, or discontinue parts of the Service and will announce important changes in advance.

Article 4 (Registration and accounts)

1. Registration requires email verification. Registering with someone else's email address or false information is not permitted.
2. Members are responsible for their account and password and may not transfer or lend them to third parties.
3. Members may close their account at any time. Links created by the member may then remain without an owner or be deleted.

Article 5 (User obligations)

Users must not:

• shorten URLs that lead to malware, phishing, fraud, spam, gambling, or illegal content;
• shorten URLs that infringe the rights of others (copyright, likeness, personal data, etc.);
• send excessive automated requests or otherwise interfere with the operation of the Service;
• use another person's account, or share or leak API keys;
• impersonate the vrl.kr brand or cause confusion with it.

Article 6 (Management of short URLs)

1. Short URLs have no expiry by default; members may set an expiry date or a maximum click count.
2. The operator may block or delete links without prior notice when a violation of Article 5 is confirmed or a report is received.
3. Custom links (specific keywords) are provided on request and subject to the operator's approval; approval, duration, and conditions are agreed individually.

Article 7 (Use of the API)

1. Members may issue an API key on the developer page and use the API.
2. Rate limits apply to the API; the limits and policies are published on the developer page.
3. Members are responsible for damage caused by a leaked API key and must regenerate the key immediately if it is exposed.

Article 8 (Protection of personal data)

The operator complies with the Personal Information Protection Act and related laws. The handling of personal data is governed by the Privacy Policy.

Article 9 (Limitation of liability)

1. The operator is not responsible for the content, safety, or legality of external sites that short URLs point to.
2. The operator is not responsible for service interruptions caused by force majeure such as natural disasters, telecommunication failures, or hosting provider outages.
3. Given that the Service is free, the operator is not liable for indirect or special damages arising from its use.

Article 10 (Dispute resolution)

Questions and disputes regarding the Service are received at [email protected]. Where litigation is required, the competent court is determined under the Korean Civil Procedure Act.
